TryoutSheet

Best tryout software for travel baseball teams

By the TryoutSheet team · Updated

For one travel team trying out 20 to 40 players, the choice comes down to how you pay and what happens after the cut. TryoutSheet is built only for baseball and softball: radar and stopwatch stations, clips of every rep, offer emails and the season roster in one place, free for 25 players. SkillShark is the cheapest paid tool per athlete and syncs with TeamSnap. TeamGenius is priced for organizations with hundreds of athletes rather than one team.

What the tryout needs

Measurables, not just ratings

Travel tryouts time the 60 and put the arm and the bat on a radar. A TryoutSheet baseball tryout starts with exit velocity, arm velocity, pitching velocity, catcher pop time and the 60-yard dash as measured stations (each keeps the best rep), next to 1–5 ratings for hitting, infield and outfield defense and athleticism. You can change the weights or add your own stations.

Several evaluators and a field with no signal

Each evaluator scores on their own phone by player number, and you can lock an evaluator to one station. Scores and clips queue on the phone without signal and sync when it’s back.

A pick you can explain to parents

Rankings are weighted by your station weights and show how many stations each player was scored at. Compare puts two to four players side by side, and blind evaluation hides names from evaluators and from the rankings until you reveal them.

Telling families, then running the season

From the draft board you mark offer, waitlist or cut and send the emails; families answer in one tap and the tracker shows who has. The players you pick become the season roster with contacts and attendance.
